Working on Our Assignment

4/11/12

Today we thought we should get cracking on our assignments so we began with the planning. After spending a few lessons before on discussion we finally concluded that we would split up as a team in order to create this assignment. Since we had 5 people in our group ( Kajal, Navneet, Garima, Celine and I) we thought this would be a much better way of completing this assignment. So Kajal and Navneet decided to work as a team and the rest of us became the other team.

Today we came to the conclusion that Navneet and Kajal will be responsible for producing QR codes (what they were going to do with that I was a bit of unsure of ) but Celine, Garima and I decided we would produce an ebook that would assist users and inform them on the basics of augmented reality and QR codes. This would include how to use these two and what they actually are.

Since I had previous background knowledge on IST I suggested to Garima and Celine that we could produce an ebook by using a few videos, animation and lots of colour. Also I told them we could add interesting facts into the ebook (because those are always fun to scrutinise and learn).

So we finally got working on our IST ebooks and it was decided that Garima and Celine would add the information on to the ebooks and I would simply do the touch ups. This including making the ebook look more fancy and adding any additional information on to the ebook.

13/11/12

Its actually quite simple and easy to produce an ebook therefore there werent many complications that we encountered during the process of making this. However there were some minsicule problems that we conquered quite efficiently and quickly. For instance:

1) Embedding the videos, rather than downloading and uploading the videos.
So one of the things I found really difficult was how to actually embed videos on powerpoint because previously I had been downloading videos from youtube and then I had been uploading them on to the powerpoint. In order to rectify this predicament I did a quick youtube search and found a very helpful tutorial which can be seen here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hChq5drjQl4
2) Sorting out who did what.
There was quite a bit of confusion regarding our assignment and who was going to do what and when it would be done. In order to overcome this quandary we simply made a gantt chart which really helped us organise who did what and when.
3) Making the ebook more user friendly
In order to make a ebook more user friendly we as a team had to come up with effective solutions. In order to solve this problem we took quite a personal approach and used our empathy as a passport to conclude that as readers we would like less writing and more colour, pictures and diagrams. So we implemented just that within the prototype of our ebook. We put more colour, animations diagrams and pictures to make the ebook look more appealing and thus more user friendly.
